Bill Pangburn and Renee Magnanti. They live and work in Manhattan and met at Pearl Paint in 1978. This long-lasting relationship and collaborative union has proven providential in that Magnanti and Pangburn have shared interests in media like encaustic, plaiting, printing, and the use of patterns. Yet, morphologically their works are different; Magnanti’s being immersed in feminist issues, decorative motifs and weaving and Pangburn’s about water and ecological concerns. Magnanti’s varied ethnic patterns are interspersed with feminist messages while Pangburn’s snaking, curving forms recall water flowing through the Panhandle that inspired them.
