The Texas-based couple Neal Adams and Andis Applewhite have counter-influenced each other’s lives and work for many years. Neal taught Andis about abstraction and its roots, as well as how to appreciate it. They are both very process oriented, Neal working to develop his abstract forms that he felt still had a way to go and Andis, working with woodblock printing. Their styles being suggestive, gestural and emotional can be defined as Abstract Expressionist. Adams passed away in 2013 but his legacy lives in the oeuvre he has left us as well as, his imprint in the living art that Applewhite produces.
