Victor’s background in science, data management and visualization and art give him many varied skills to draw on in his highly experimental approach. He began his artistic exploration as a traditional printmaker but quickly evolved to incorporate digital technology into his practice. Among others, he has developed a technique for using a 3D printer to fabricate printing plates to be used in a traditional press. He and his wife Phyllis have authored articles describing their processes in printmaking journals and teach about how technology can be used to expand the scope of artistic possibilities in printshops and at the university level. With his wife, he curates shows that explore the nexus of technology and traditional artistic production. He holds Masters’ degrees in both science and business and earned a BFA in Fine Arts and Art History in 2013.
