TSAI Wenxiang , born in 1961 in Keelung City, Taiwan, completed his MFA master degree in photography and related media at School of Visual Arts in New York. During his undergraduate year, he was fascinated by photography and passionate about exploring ways he could utilize to advance his photographing techniques. By this self-training, TSAI laid the foundation for his cultivation in photography and the visual language of humanities and arts. In his fourth-year, he conducted the project “Notebook of A Wooden Man” that reflected his strong interest in advance visual practice and habits of critical thinking. The 90s, the years after the lift of Martial Law, were the golden age for press photography and TSAI devoted himself to this career. As a press photographer for China Times, he focused on recording the transformation of Taiwan society.
