Nanette Carolyn Carter was born in Columbus, Ohio. Most of her childhood was spent in Montclair, New Jersey. Her first art classes took place at the Montclair Museum of Art in New Jersey at the age of six. This would be the beginning of Nanette’s life’s work in the fine arts.
Nanette attended Oberlin College in Ohio, majoring in Studio Art and Art History. During her junior year she studied abroad in Perugia, Italy. That year she traveled through Europe and North Africa.
Nanette studied at Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn, New York, receiving her Masters in Fine Arts. Presently Ms. Carter is a tenured Associate Adjunct Professor of art at Pratt Institute where she teaches Drawing/ Mixed Media classes and is the Coordinator for Drawing in the undergraduate program.
She works and lives in New York City.
