Mary Hrbacek

Mary Hrbacek is an artist and art critic (AICA) based in NYC. She has exhibitied internationally in China, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Greece and in Canada, at the “Drawn Festival,” and in a two-person show “Charcoal and Thread” at Elliot Lewis Gallery, Vancouver. Her human-tree drawing in the “American Drawing Biennial VI,” the Muscarelle Museum, VA, won Juror’s Prize, from Ann Philbin, then director of The Drawing Center, NYC. “Life Before Life” (2015) is her fourth solo show at CREON, NYC. In 2016 she was awarded the Carole A. Feuerman Sculpture Foundation, ESKF Foundation, & The Helis Foundation, financial grant for artwork exhibited in “Mixing Medias,” curated by Carole Feuerman at MANA CONTEMPORARY. In 2016 her solo exhibition “Vital Connections” opened to critical acclaim at Gallery D’Arte, Chelsea, NYC. Hrbacek participated in the Pusan Art Fair South Korea in 2016 and 2017. She exhibited at the Mykonos Biennial 2016. Four of her charcoal drawings are included in “Whispers,” at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete. The Museum has acquired the drawings for their permanent collection. The show “Whispers” traveled to the State Museum of Contemporary Art of Thessalonica, Greece, 2017. Paris Koh Fine Arts, N.Y. presented her solo exhibition entitled “The Painted Veil That Those Who Live Call Life,” 2017.
