Mark Hadjipateras was born in London. He studied at St. Martins in London and the John Moores School of Art in Liverpool. From 1982 to 2002 he lived and worked in New York. His work includes painting, sculpture, and printing. He has created site-specific installations in public spaces and galleries in Europe and the U.S. In 2000, the Metropolitan Transit Authority of New York City, commissioned Hadjipateras to create a permanent installation comprising 40 mosaics for the 28th Street station of the Broadway line. This work received the award of “Best Public Work” of the New York Municipal Arts Society in 2003. He has participated in more than 100 group exhibitions as well as in 30 solo exhibitions in Greece, Europe and the U.S. His works can be found in public and private collections.
