LI Xinmo was born in 1976 in Yilan, Heilongjiang Province, She is a performance artist, got her master’s degree from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 2008 and is now based in Beijing. Her works, employing a variety of media, including performance, painting, video, etc., have been exhibited in art museums in Sweden, France, Germany, Canada, and the U.S. In 2007 she made a video of the effects of pulmonary disease among miners, “I Want to Breathe”, a painful demonstration of their suffering from pulmonary disease, was originally performed as a solo exhibition at Juhua Space, Shanghai. Other films are devoted to the problems of pollution.
