Kyunghee Pyun is an assistant professor in the department of history of art at SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Having written three exhibition catalogs in 2013-2015 on immigrant Asian artists entitled Coloring Time; Shades of Time; and Weaving Time, she is engaged with contemporary art groups in New York. She is currently working on history of costume called Radical Fashion: Costume Changes and Social Reforms in Modern Asia. Simultaneously she is developing a new book, Modern Art on the Asian Soil: Practicing Western Art 1880–2000. Her other research interests include the global trade of decorative arts in premodern Eurasia and Americas; the usage and reception of visual art in context of religious performance and liturgy; the interplay of word and image; and the history of art collections. She graduated from Seoul National University and received an M.A. and Ph.D. from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.
