Nathalia Lavigne

Nathalia Lavigne is an art writer and independent curator, a Ph.D. Candidate at Architecture and Urbanism College, University of São Paulo (FAUUSP) and a former visiting scholar at The New School. She is a contributor to Artforum International Magazine, Contemporary And (C&), ArtReview, Folha de São Paulo, among others; and has an MA in Cultural and Critical Studies from Birkbeck, University of London. As a member of the Research Group Aesthetics of Memory in the 21st Century CNQP/FAU-USP, she has developed projects such as Masp.etc.br, for the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP). A former researcher of the “Observatório do Sul” project, a platform for discussions promoted in 2015 by Sesc São Paulo, the Goethe-Institut and the Associação Cultural Videobrasil, which brought together professionals from different fields to discuss the Global South in the field of culture. Among the exhibitions she curated are the group show “Image-Movement” (Zipper Galeria, São Paulo, 2016-17), which discussed the limits of stillness in photographic images. Between 2017 and 2018, she has coordinated the project Zip’Up (Zipper Galeria), dedicated to young artists of the Brazilian art scene. She was recently awarded the Temporada de Projetos 2020 prize to curate a group exhibition at Paço das Artes (São Paulo, Brazil) in 2020.
